Addons can make your life much easier. This was never truer than for a multiboxer with five different classes. All the micro-management can get tedious, so every little help that makes it easier or faster is appreciated. Therefore I compiled this neat list to explain which addons I use, and why.
Jamba- THE multiboxing addon for WoW. It manages everything from automatic follows to quest automation communications. I don’t think you can effectively multibox without this addon.
Questhelper- I mainly use it to watch the quest progress on my whole party, especially important for collection quests. On my secondary characters it basically runs in the background, as I just need the info from the characters on my main’s window.
Deadly Bossmods (Spelltimers)- Spelltimers is an addition to the normal DBM that adds cooldown tracking of spells cast by someone in the party/raid. Very useful to watch certain cooldowns and to alert me when they are available again.
Macaroon- A very powerful, macro-oriented bar addon. Basically it replaces the default Blizzard bars and buttons and allows you to place your own wherever you like, and every button is a macro. And on the plus, the character limitation of 255 characters per macro is nullified, which is very much needed for my multiboxing setup.
SmartBuff- Running on every character I can select which classes to buff with which buff and cast those buffs with a single keypress. One button party buffing, ’nuff said.
agUnitframes- Replaces the standard Blizzard unitframes and makes them moveable. I never liked the layout of the default ui and used a lot of different unitframe addons. Currently I use this one since it is very clear and ordered, so I have a good visual feedback from all of my characters.
I use quite a few other addons as well, but those are not directly related to multiboxing. However I will list them as well.
RicoMiniMap- An improved minimap with nice features, and it is moveable.
Prat- A chat addon with lots of options and possibilities.
CowTip- A tooltip addon that let’s you customize your tooltip layout and which information should be displayed.
ElkBuffBars- Some nice buff bars for buffs, debuffs and weapon enchants, color coded, with time display, multiple layout formats and filters.
MinimapButtonFrame- Collects all buttons from the minimap, including default Blizzard buttons and those from all the addons you have installed and puts them into a moveable and collapsible container.Yes, I like a clean interface.
oGlow- A very small addon that color codes all your items’ background with their rarity in both your character window (and also inspect window) and bags.
Recount- A combat log parser that shows my damage done, dps, healing and much more. I use it to keep an eye on my secondary characters’ performance.
