Some people asked me how I play five characters at once, and the answer is not that easy. So I am posting this screenshot of my dual screen setup.

Basically it is two 22″ screens next to each other, with a spanning desktop. The left monitor runs a maximized WoW for my main character. The right monitor is split into 4 windows, each running a copy of WoW. I am using a program called Maximizer to remove the window borders and title bars, so it all fits nicely.

To control the characters on the secondary windows I am mainly using a program called HotKeyNet, which sends predefined keypresses to one or more windows. For example, if I press my follow key/macro, all characters but the one in the active window get the keypress that is assigned to a follow macro. If I press my dps button, all characters start casting, and so on and on. Really, lots of macros and fine tuning.

More ingame screenshots, maybe during a fight or so, later. Now, I am off for lunch. Lunch > WoW!

Just for the record, this is the current team. I switched around a bit on the professions and specs, and this is what I will try now for the next few levels:

Lord Kreizenn - Bloodelf Paladin, Protection specced, gathers ore and herbs

Ikatiar the Venom - Bloodelf Priest, Holy spec (might switch to Discipline), Enchanting and Tailoring

Lady Mirenilla - Troll Mage, Arcane spec (maybe Fire soonish), Skinning and later Inscription

Lady Nevederia - Orc Warlock, Destruction spec, Tailoring and Jewelcrafting

Dagarn the Destroyer - Tauren Shaman, Elemental spec, Leatherworking and Alchemy

After some pretty fun leveling and setting up all the macros and hotkeys I need for my multiboxing and joining my two toon teams and my single shaman together, I went late this night into the Ragefire Chasm beneath Orgrimmar.

With only a single deaths on the side of my team I think we successfully rocked that place! Just poor little mage Mirenilla was a little bit too enthusiastic and overaggroed an opposed warlock, and before we could save her, she fell.

I still have to work out a lot of macros and tweak my settings a bit. And I guess I should install some kind of aggro warning or threat meter so I can see when someone of my casters has aggro. Oh, and maybe a dps meter since I am curious how good my cast sequences are.

I will post a screenshot tomorrow since I just realized I do not have a ftp program installed since I installed Win7.

Anyways, good night for now. It’s late enough already! *cough*

Well, it’s done. I spent the better half of yesterday evening to install Windows 7 on my system. And even though I thoroughly backed up my data, I lost my complete email inbox, since Thunderbird did not want to import the backup file. Sure sucks, but life goes on.

Win7 is, well, different. Feels like a totally new experience in comparison to XP. It will probaby take some time to get used to it, but so far I like it. A few things I do not understand and do not want or like, but XP had that as well. More of it even. If I could just get my surround sound to work properly then I would be happy. But that’s the goal for today. And setup my multiboxing environment.

Yesterday my copy of Windows 7 Premium 64bit arrived, so this evening I will be busy doing final backups of all my stuff and the installing my system from scratch. I hope I don’t forget anything too important. Once that is done I will see how good my machine will handle five instances of World of Warcraft at once. The only doubt I have is my graphics card which doesn’t have that much of ram. But we shall see.

Or not…! There was a technical problem with retrieving my package from the post office. I will have to wait until later today or even tomorrow till I finally hold it in my hands. Meh.

On a sidenote, my five box team is now up and running. Dagarn the Tauren Shaman and Kreizenn the Bloodelf Paladin will make their appearance in this blog as soon as I have my system running again.

Hi folks!

This is my brand new weblog where I will post interesting stuff like articles, screenshots, photos and all that in regards to World of Warcraft in general, or my multiboxing in that game.

So far my hardware is almost set up and ready to roll. I ordered a new QuadCore CPU and a few more megs of ram, and once they get here I can start this little project. And in about two weeks my copy of Windows 7 64bit will arrive as well. Then everything is complete. I’ll post a photo of my gaming rig once everything is set up with hardware specs for those interested.
